Style: Thrifty vs Thrifted

Skirt as Dress, Jacket, Bag: Thrifted via Secondhand Stores
Belt: Gap circa 2000 (it was .99)
Shoes: Target (a few years back. 75% off)

Whats the difference? Clearance rack? Discount stores? Thrift/Secondhand shops? I personally primarily shop at thrift stores but I do have a few stores that I know I can find things at a deep discount and the items are brand new. I love to find a bargain so I consider most of my purchases to be Bargain Buys.

The outfit above is a good example of thrifted vs thrifty. Half was purchased from actual thrift stores, the other half from department stores that tend to have great sales at times.

Eats: Blended Chocolate Iced Coffee

Sometimes I just wanna make a quick Starbucks run and grab a nice iced anything. Most times thats practically impossible being that its not really a necessity and who wants to pay $5 bucks whenever the coffee spirit moves them...NOT ME! So I came up with this quick pick me up recipe that makes me happy and gives me my coffee without having to drop everything Im doing.

You will need:
Coffee
Ice
Pudding Cup(I chose chocolate)
Sweetener

  • Place all ingredients into your blender (I used a magic bullet)
  • Blend until ice has been throughly crushed
  • Pour and Enjoy!
BTW if you have a little one that would like to play grownup and sip a drink along with you just omit the coffee and add a bit of milk or creamer.

Style: Thrifty Pleats

Skirt, Shirt, Necklace: Thrifted
Belt: Gap (circa 2000)
Shoes: Nine West (gifted)

To say that Im in love with this skirt is an understatement. This skirt shall be worn until its threadbare! I picked it up over the weekend in at The Salvation Army Store in Waukegan, Il. I swear the thrift stores in the Chicago suburbs are like a treasure chest for folks that love older/vintage pretty ladylike pieces. I scooped up this skirt for $2.00!

Happy Monday!

Style+DIY: Hot Pants

No this is not a post about weight loss :) I picked up these hot pink corduroy pants this summer for .25! They were cute but too big and too long. But for .25 I figured something could be done with them.

So I found this tutorial and got my pins and sewing machine out.
.
Sidenote: I picked up these cute boots this week for 8.74!

 Pants: Thrifted and DIY'd
Shirt,Scarf on wrist and Necklace: Thrifted
Belt and Boots: Target

Combine my pink pants and cute boots and Im happy with the results. The entire outfit cost me less than $15. I think I can live with that!

Happy Hump Day :)
