Mani Moment: Rainstorm

Earlier this week I did a post regarding my love of nail polish and my constant polish changing. Heres an example of my compulsion. If I have free time thrift or polish (or both).

Have a Great Weekend!

Mani Moment: Getting the Most Out of Your At Home Manicure

If you know anything about me you know I have a crazy nail polish collection. Its a crazy addiction that has haunted me since childhood. I think the polish hoarding gene has been passed down to my daughter. This makes its even more fun to buy more paint!

The plus side to buying my own polish is that:
1) It costs pennies to do my manis.
2) I can change my polish WHENEVER I WANT. Meaning random polish    changes in the middle of the week :)
3) Its cheap!
4) I dont have to leave my house!

With that said, I though it would be cool to share some of my fave ways to make my at home manicures last.

1) Trim and file nails FIRST! Before removing old polish and before wetting nails go ahead and trim nails and file your nails into the shape you desire. Filing and trimming when wet will tear your nails. (Nobody wants that)

2) Remove your cuticles. This is the easiest step that Ive just recently started doing and who knew it would make such a big difference! I dont used the cutting tool since im too much of a klutz and my remove my entire finger. Sally Hansens Instant Cuticle Remover is the best ive tried! It literally takes 15 seconds to work. This step provides a pretty base. Kinda like a new picture frame :)

3) Always start with clean nails. Be sure after washing, drying and removing your cuticles swipe your nails with a bit of polish remover or rubbing alcohol to begin your mani with completely clean nails. This helps the polish to adhere better by removing any oils that may be on your nails!
4) ALWAYS use a base coat. This protects your nails from the polish and the polish from the natural oils your body creates.

5) Two Coats of Color. When I polish my nails I usually suck at the first coat. Its streaky or uneven. No worries! The second coat makes it all better. Also drag the polish brush across the tips of your nails. This gives the perfect stopping point to your polish.

6) Top Coat. This step not only hides the mistakes from step 5 but it helps keep the polish in place.

Voila! Pretty Nails!

Do you have any Tip tips to share?

Style: My Favorite Shirt

Shirt: Mossimo via Dirt Cheap .50!
Leggings: Vera Wang for Khols
Shoes: No Name via Claires
Bag: No Name via Thrift Shop

WetnWild Club Havana on the Nails

You know those outfits you wear in between posted outfits? This is one of them. This shirt gets more wear than any other item in my closet honestly. Its worn with jeans, skirts, shorts, as a layer over dresses ect. The list really could go on and on. Its perfect for lazy days. Todays excuse for wearing the oversized shirt: Its raining and the temperature dropped to 75 :)

The shirt is probably wrong to some but Im sure wearing leggings in the summer seems pretty nutty too. I love my leggings too much to hide them away until fall. Regardless, the combination worked well for my trip to get the old eyebrows threaded. I was also wearing another headwrap but I figured I should let the hair out to show you what took place a few days ago.

If you follow me on Instagram @keesha_mama you already know that I put warm blonde hair color in my hair and this is what I got :)

Yup I colored it!
ps. If youre an Instagramer drop your handle in the comments so we can follow each other :)

Nails: New Polish (ect)

Miss Corrin Modeling Sally Hansens Heat Wave (similar)
l to r: Buttercup, Parrot, Heat Flash (All Sally Hansen) via the clearance end cap at Walgreens.
I also picked up a new mascara/shadow/liner set to try out by Black Radiance.
(Sidenote: @TwoBirds I tried the E.l.f. liner pen and it was a fail)
Dont you just love lil baby toes :)

Miss Corrin and I share a love for mani/pedis. She likes to choose a color from my extensive yet underused color collection every week. Her favorite part is not the soaking her feet or the girl talk (about Dora or Strawberry Shortcake), its the "foot ah-sage) :)

Its a fun way for us to spend time together.

Happy Almost Weekend!
